A brief overview of our Team...
Whilst Team Principal Paul Abbott started his motorsport addiction over 40 years ago driving sports cars and open wheelers, Abbott Motorsport (AMG Racing) didn't come about until 2005 and has been involved in karting, Superkarts and Formula Fords since then.
In 2011 the team moved into new premises which gave them approximately 600sqm of workshop area that allowed them to offer their services and facilities to the general racing community. It also provided the opportunity to setup a working display area for the goods and services of the teams sponsors.
In 2013 we became involved with the Adelaide University Engineering facilty as Technical Mentors for the students FSAE team. Students are given the opportunity to work alongside the team and to be actively involved at race meetings. Not only is this experience beneficial to the students overall appreciation of real world environments it also fosters a lifelong interest in motorsport and hopefully aspirations of a career in motorsport.
Our aim now is to foster new, young – and the not so young, enthusiasts and mentor them through to the heights of their passions and dreams.

What is a Formula Ford ...
There are two distinct classes within the category - Formula Ford 1600 (FF1600) and Australian Formula Ford (AFF). The FF1600 class is powered by a Kent 1.6 litre engine, whereas the AFF class is powered by the Ford Fiesta Duratec 1.6 litre engine.
The cars utilise a steel space frame chassis and are mid engined. With their respective engines they are capable of up approximately 250kph.
With fully adjustable, independent racing car suspension; chassis balance is controlled by damper, spring and anti-roll bar combinations.
Utilising a Hewland transaxle they are limited to four forward gears, ratios are changed to suit various circuits and conditions. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes, dual circuit for independent front and rear activation; front/rear bias is adjustable.
